Agriculture employers and workers can use these tools and resources to find jobs, skilled workers, financial help and other supports. 

Grants

  • The SME Relaunch Grant offers financial assistance to Alberta businesses, cooperatives, and non-profit organizations that were ordered to close or curtail operations, and that experienced a revenue reduction of at least 30%, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program offers 2 payments to eligible applicants, with up to $20,000 in available funding per eligible application.Video: https://youtu.be/vdX_aUOItbo
  • Applications for the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) 2021 are being accepted.  Get your applications in early to avoid disappointment. Full details at   https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/funding/canada-summer-jobs.html. The Canada Summer Jobs 2021 program provides wage subsidies to employers from: not-for-profit organizations and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years. Funded employers are not restricted to hiring students — all youth aged 15 to 30 years may be eligible participants.

  • SUPPORTING SAFE COMMUNITY GATHERINGS- Faith Based and Cultural Facility Relaunch GRANT
  • Civil Society Fund  Proposals must demonstrate how the project can support transformational change for their organization or the broader civil society sector.
  • Energy Savings for Business: Investing to keep businesses competitive a funding opportunity to support small- and medium-scale industrial and commercial businesses—is awarding up to $55 million for cost-saving and emissions reducing projects.
  • Emissions Reduction Alberta: Shovel Ready Challenge This funding opportunity provides vital financial support to companies ready to implement leading-edge technologies in applications for both greenfield and brownfield operations. This will result in operational efficiencies, cost and emissions reductions, new investment, job creation and retention, and address longer-term environmental sustainability priorities. Successful applicants are eligible for up to $15 million with a minimum request of $2 million.
  • Canada United Small Business Relief Fund - Grant of up to $5000 to offset the cost of expenses to reopen safely or adopt digital technologies to move more of the business online.
  • Canada Emergency Business Account Loan

Business Works Central Alberta, sponsored by the Government of Alberta, offers a free 26 week business training program for eligible people who are looking to become self-employed. They offer business training, coaching, mentorship, referrals and networking opportunities so you leave the program with strategies to navigate the unpredictable and unforeseen challenges of self-employment with confidence.
