Ferintosh Lagoon Local Improvement Plan

Council gave first reading to Bylaw 1595, beginning the local improvement process to help fund the planned rehabilitation of the Ferintosh wastewater lagoon.

The project is estimated at approximately $3.98 million. The County is applying for provincial funding that, if approved, would cover 75% of eligible project costs. A local improvement levy is being considered as a way to fund the remaining costs associated with the project.

Affected landowners will receive information on the proposed Local Improvement Plan and will have 30 days to submit a petition. An open house will also be held in Ferintosh on October 15 to provide residents with project information and an opportunity to ask questions.

Round Hill Lagoon Maintenance Approved

Council approved $110,000 from the Sewer Reserve to remove accumulated sludge from the Round Hill wastewater lagoon ahead of planned rehabilitation work this fall.

Removing the sludge will reduce the risk of wastewater flow restrictions, provide better access for construction, and help ensure the wastewater system continues to operate reliably while the lagoon upgrades are completed.
