These mussels attach and cluster themselves to hard surfaces submerged in water such as boats and other recreational equipment. 

Alberta is working to protect waterways from these invasive species.  The mussels can survive outside of water for many days and need to be removed from watercraft.  Clean, Drain, and Dry your Boat!
