We are back In Person and Virtual for 2022!

The soap opera and story lines of new legislation and farm planning continue while the Young and Restless ponder whether they’ll ever get control of the family farm through Bill C-208. We’ll visit the key plans and concerns in 55(2) and 84.1 that have been implemented over the past year and provide updates on transfer of control, GAAR, cash butterflies and dealing with administration.

As the World Turns and inflation runs rampant through the agriculture sector we’ll discuss the economics and tips to share with clients including using both personal and corporate immediate expensing. We’ll detail the foreign exchange reporting rules as an increasing number of producers turn to options to manage volatility in these market conditions.

The seminar covers a few of The Bold and The Beautiful case studies from a succession standpoint, will review old plans and new planning opportunities with the changes to the large corporations tax and highlight some of the farm specific considerations to work through. We’ll discuss changes regarding interest deductibility and mandatory reporting rules with agriculture specific implications and problem identification. As usual, work through our extended list of tips, traps and unique cases from the past year.
