Camrose County's Cemetery Assistance Grant provides annual grant funding of up to a maximum of $500 annually for eligible cemeteries in Camrose County. Grant funding is limited and will be processed in order of the date the application is received.

To be considered eligible for Cemetery Assistance Grant funding, the applicant must:

• Be a public cemetery within Camrose County
• Be a registered non-profit organization, or society under the Societies Act or the Cemeteries Act

The following cemeteries are ineligible for the Cemetery Assistance Grant:

• Private cemeteries
• Cemeteries owned by individuals or families
• Municipally owned cemeteries
• Cemeteries outside of Camrose County borders

APPLICATION PROCESS

An application for funding must be submitted to be considered for the Camrose County cemetery assistance grant. Successful applicants will receive funding annually in April unless there is a change to their non-profit/charitable status or to the Cemetery Assistance Grant Policy.

Camrose County Administration will verify eligibility every 4 years by confirming that the applicant has non-profit/charitable status through one of the following sources:

• The Alberta Non-Profit Listing
• The Government of Canada charity directory

Funding Requirements

Funds must be used for the purpose for which this grant program intended, and as listed under eligible expenses. Camrose County reserves the right to refuse funding of any application and may request a review of funding allocations.

ELIGIBLE EXPENSES

• Operating expenses such as grass cutting and general maintenance.
• Capital expenses including plot surveys, ground improvements, fencing, signage, etc.

INELIGIBLE EXPENSES

• Retirement of debt.
• Cost of developing a proposal.
• Assessment studies.

FUNDING OBLIGATIONS

• Funds may be set aside in a low-risk investment account (GIC) to assist with future operating or capital projects.
• Any unused funds must be returned to Camrose County.
• Failure to meet the above obligations may result in restricted access to future funding.
