County Hamlets
Camrose County is largely a rural area, however there are a number of small communities within the County designated as hamlets. Each of these has a community spirit all their own, and offer a wonderful opportunity to live close to neighbours but still enjoy rural Aberta life.
Maps showing information for each of the Communities is available below.

Hamlet of Meeting Creek
Nestled in river valleys and eminent hills, Meeting Creek is a former railway town that is now a charming hamlet for a handful of families. Meeting Creek is home to its wonderfully preserved railway station, built in 1913, which is now a museum. The station sits beside a classic Alberta Pacific Grain elevator, a classic example of a wood-cribbed prairie grain elevator. The Meeting Creek elevator served the farming community in this area until 1984. The station and the elevator are designated Provincial Historic Resources and were donated to the Canadian Northern Society for preservation. Both sites are open to the public. Guided tours of the station and elevator are also available. A section of the original 60-pound steel railway was also preserved and now preserves prairie grasslands on the station grounds. Also, there were developed Natural Linear Park Trails that are open year-round to the public. We invite you to visit this beautiful community and explore Cole Park, built by resident Huibert DeBoon.

Hamlet of New Norway
The Hamlet of New Norway is located along Highway 21, south of Camrose. The New Norway School (K-12) is the hub of the community. In 2022 four golfers from this school won a silver at ASAA Golf Provincials. Thanks to a 27-hole Silver Creek Golf Course located just north of New Norway, where students can nail their skills. The Recreation Board and Ag. Society is active volunteer groups in the community, and an annual Bunnock tournament is a popular event in the summer months. Residents enjoy many of the attributes of the hamlet, including brand new playgrounds (2022), a campground, Silver Creek Multiplex, a skating rink, ball diamonds, a community hall, as well as Silver Creek Greenhouse, which is a short drive away. New Norway has a lot to offer residents who choose the small-town way of life.

Hamlet of Ohaton
Ohaton is a safe and very friendly community of 133 people. It is located just 13 km east of Camrose on Hwy #13. It sits in a region of rolling hills and small lakes, and is surrounded by many attractive farms and acreages. The surrounding area is mostly farmed with grain and canola or ranched with predominantly cattle. Ohaton has a Community Centre, outdoor skating rink, basketball court, and playground. Just 8 km northeast of the hamlet you can find an old Parkland Evangelical Lutheran Church, built in 1930. It is an excellent example of rural Lutheran church design in Alberta. In 2010 this church was recognized and listed as a historic place in the Canadian Register. Ohaton is a good choice for a place to live if you want to be close to the services of a Camrose City, but desire the peace and space of a rural setting.

Hamlet of Round Hill
The lively hamlet of Round Hill is just a short 30 km commute northeast of Camrose and well worth the drive to visit. Despite its size (125 residents), Round Hill is well known throughout the county as a fun recreational place and home of the Round Hill Renaissance Agriculture Foundation (RHRAF), created by the community of Round Hill in 2020. The RHRAF, with the help of Round Hill School (K-Grade 9), is developing an innovative agricultural learning program, 'Foodscape Project,' to teach and create a sustainable food source within the community. So far, they have planted a food forest, shelter belt, and community garden started compositing and water-capturing programs and built original binzebos. Also, they are offering Round Hill visitors tours. With the help of this organization, the school became one of 33 schools across Canada to receive a 2022 Farm to School Canada Grant. It will involve purchasing food from surrounding farms and businesses, teaching kids financial management and having the students help prepare their twice-monthly community meals. The community spirit of Round Hill makes it an excellent place to call home! Welcome!
